The Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) is an incorporated body and public trust to advance the objectives of national unity and development through quality access to education in Nigeria. It comprises former Alumni and graduates of the Federal Government Colleges, also known as Unity Schools, form 104 such schools all over Nigeria.
Promoted by the government in Nigeria in the decades between the mid-1960s and the 1980s, the Unity Schools were founded on a philosophy of quality instruction and intercommunity coexistence as the bases of national unity and development.

Today, it is safe to say that the Unity Schools are, by far, Nigeria’s greatest and most successful investment in human capital development.

The Problem

The purpose of education in today's society is to prepare students for the challenges of life in the career world. Because of the many different paths to success that exist today, different students need different outcomes from their experiences in the educational system. Rather than inculcating a set list of competencies or ideas, education must prepare students to think critically and select the opportunities that they need in order to succeed in their chosen paths.

This pathology of violence and state incapacity challenges the very reason for the existence of the Unity Schools and is well suited to be addressed by USOSA, with its network of membership, human capital and goodwill across every neighbourhood, local government area and State of Nigeria and with unique access to the instrumentalities of official power as well as civic and other sources of influence.

We aim to provide a better system of education for the Nigerian child. Believing that education is a birth right and every child deserves the right to a quality education.
As on body working in hand with the Government of the Federation, we intend to achieve a system that will produce children with strong academic background, enough to stand the taste of time..
